J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction: J36 Weekly Sale of Pigs, Prime Lambs & Cast Sheep, Tuesday 11th November 2025

PIG

A large entry today at Junction 36 with every category was available, trade was more selective for middle run goods. Quality fat pigs were similar to the sale previous and on the whole weaners and stores were a good trade. The Navesey’s achieved the top price today at £190.
A large entry is expected at the next sale in two weeks time.

CAST SHEEP

Several pure ewes forward today selling to £252 for Texels from J Woodburn & Partners with others £215 to £245, best first cross to £198, better end £175 to £190, mediums £148 to £165. Mules sold to £170 with the heavier end £150 plus and meated mediums £135 to £145. Feeding types £102 to £115 depending on breed and quality.
Pure hill ewes topped at £168 for SBF, Rough Fells £132, Cheviot £130, Swaledale £110 and Gritstone £90. Medium hill ewes were £65 to £75, with the smaller and leaner end less.
Cull rams topped at £282 with other stronger end continentals £220 to £250, mediums £170 to £200. Horned rams sold to £165 for Rough Fells.
An entry of goats were keenly bid for, selling to £148 for a pen of fifteen.
More ewes, rams and goats are required each sale to fulfil buyers demand.

PRIME LAMBS - Plenty of lambs and plenty of confidence.
Another strong showing of sheep today at Junction 36, with excellent numbers forward and trade holding firm on last week. Well finished and the lighter half of lambs again commanding keen interest from buyers.
Texel lambs topped today at £204 from PK&R Woof, The same home had others at £199 and £196. Late 30kg to mid 40kg were definitely the trade of the trade of the day! Texels from R&J Moorhouse selling for 379.5p/kg at 44kgs. A pen of five weighing 38kg hit 365.8p/kg this time from J Clarke & Son. Four continental lambs from AP Metcalfe sold for 354.8p/kg at 42kg, while 40kg Texels from R&SA Rawsthorne made 350p/kg.
Todays overall average levelled out at 310p/kg, similar to last weeks trade here. For further information contact Joel McGarva on 07920009097.
