About Us
North West Auctions Limited was formed in 2005 following the successful merger of The Lancaster Farmers' Auction Mart and The Kendal and District Auction Mart. These two companies merged to form L & K Group Plc, our parent company. Both auction marts had operated independently for over 100 years in their respective towns but the businesses are now very successfully run by one team sharing staff and resources over both sites.
Our two auction marts cover very distinct areas. Kendal Auction draws stock mainly from South Lakeland, Eden, Furness, south west Cumbria and North Yorkshire. Lancaster Auction draws stock from all of Lancashire, North Yorkshire plus some from Cumbria. Each market sells prime, dairy, store and breeding stock. We are proud to be the leading livestock operator in the North West.
Our markets are true farmers' markets, with high quality stock coming direct from local farmers. We have an extremely experienced team – most of the auctioneers have over 20 years in the business and a wide range of specialisms (prime stock, dairy, breeding stock and store stock). Many our staff have been with us over 15 years. Buyers come regularly from as far afield as the north of Scotland and south Devon.
