CULL EWES

A full row of cull sheep forward with buyers keen for all classes and types. Strongest ewes to £268 for Texels from D & K Swarbrick with others £220-£250 with better end mediums £185-£210 and smaller meated £160-£180. Mules to £188 from D Wightman with strongest £172-£185 and mediums £158-£170. All ewes sold averaged £175. Cull rams to £296 for Texels from G Hargreaves. Stronger continentals £220-£250 with smaller and leaner rams £170-£200.

BREEDING SHEEP

As the season draws to a close these were a few less forward but still a high level of interest from a large crowd of buyers. Dutch Spotted ewes with twins from Myerscough College sold to £330, £325, £320 with singles to £305, £285. Regular supporter Ian Richardson sold aged ewes with twin to £320 and singles £290 and £285.

PRIME HOGGS

A very respectable SQQ average of 404p/kg with all Hoggs easily sold. Best of the heavies to £250 for Texel cross from J & K Burr, standards to £185 and lightweights £165. Well fleshed hoggs to 456p/kg from Barker Farms, better end 425p/kg to 445p/kg with grass finished 295p/kg to 415p/kg.

Hoggs will continue to be wanted throughout June.

PRIME LAMBS

The call for lambs was answered with largest entry of the season so far, keep these lambs coming. New buyers once again in attendance and keen to return. All sold today averaged 475p/kg.
Todays sale topped at £251 and 595p/kg for Texel cross from D & K Swarbrick, endless better bred and well finished pens of lambs £220 to £240 and 520p/kg to 560p/kg.
