Lancaster Livestock Auction: Lancaster Weekly Sale of Calves, OTM Cattle & Store Cattle, Friday 2nd January 2026.

OTM/CAST CATTLE

Those that presented cows were duly rewarded with a fast trade with all sold averaging 255p/kg with many onlookers wishing they had bought cows to sell!
Top beef cow today was a Limousin x from M & L Preece achieving 319.5p/kg and £2556 with dairies to 294.5p/kg from TN Pye & Partners and £2398 from Kelsall & Wood. Parlour types 195-210p/kg.
OTM heifers to 339.5p/kg for Holstein Friesian from Richmond Hall and other Holstein Friesian to £2162 from Lawsons Farm Ltd.

STORE CATTLE

Full buyer attendance with keen interest to fill pens with steers averaging £2234 and heifers £1939.
Steers topped at £2700 from DE & SM Moorhouse for a Limousin x with other stronger end £2500-£2650 and good feeding types £2350-£2500.
Heifers sold to £2520 for Aberdeen Angus x from MJ Shepherd with other stronger end £2350-£2500 and mediums generally £2100-£2300.

CALVES

A nice start to the calf sales of 2026, with trade picking up where it left off.
Bull calves sold to £870 for a British Blue from JS Towers & H Kent, Dolphinholme with others at £800 from D&J Hay, Cockerham. Limousins sold to £800 from D&M Foster, Out Rawcliffe who sold Aberdeen Angus at the same price. Charolais sold to £730 from Wallbank Farms, Over Wyresdale with three week olds to £540 for Limousins from D&K Haworth and £530 for British Blues from Messrs Walmsley, Cockerham. Black and Whites sold to £480 from Ian Richardson, Catforth.
Heifers sold to £720 for Charolais from D&J Hay, Cockerham with Limousins to £690 from JS Towers & H Kent, Dolphinholme. British Blues to £690 from Wallbank Farms, with Aberdeen Angus at £ £590 from I Slater, Bleasdale.
A handful of stirks sold to £990 for Aberdeen Angus bullocks from M Noblett, Preston who sold heifers to £950.
