Lancaster Weekly sale of Prime Lambs and Cast Ewes
An increased entry of 580 lambs saw a trade sharper on the week, in line with other centres at the end of last week, averaging out at 334p/kg.
D & K Swarbrick, Out Rawcliffe, with their usual run of well meated Lambs topped at £222 or 472p/kg for a Beltex. WS Burrow with a quality run of lambs not far behind at £218 for a pair of Texels with more from this same good home at £208 or 416p/kg. Plenty of other well bred and fed lambs round the 380p/kg to 390p/kg mark. More of this type of lambs can easily be sold at Lancaster.
A more commercial type lamb, if well meated and around 45kg, around the 360p/kg to 370p/kg mark.
W Garnett, Milnthorpe had heavy weight Suffolks to £171. A handful of heavyweight Mules to £172 from Drinkall Bros, Over Wyersdale.
More Lambs required for this early Monday morning sale with buyers eager to fill orders and get lambs away to the abattoirs.

CAST SHEEP
100 cast sheep with a plainer show than previous weeks and trade a touch easier as more numbers come out nationwide. Texels sold to £198 from TR Gorst, Bay Horse, other Texels to £195 from Hannah Mason, Lancaster who also sold Mules to £175. Mules a grade down were around the £140 to £150 mark. More horned sheep about today with Dalesbred to £95 from DR Preston, Caton.
