Lancaster Livestock Auction: Lancaster Weekly Sale of Calves, OTM Cattle & Store Cattle, Friday 14th November 2025.

CALVES

70 calves through the little ring today, with trade maintaining that of recent weeks.
Bull calves to £810 x2 for Aberdeen Angus cross from JS Towers & H Kent, Dolphinholme with Charolais from SW&K Metcalfe, Whittington next at £710. British Blues sold to £700 on two occasions from J&G Thornley, Kirkham and JP&C Robson, Brock. Thirty day old bulls sold to £540 for Charolais from GJ&G Billington, Brock.
Heifer calves to £600 x3 for British Blues from Wallbank Farms and once again for a British Blue from JS Towers & H Kent who sold Herefords to £530. Charolais sold to £520 from GJ&G Billington at one month old with Aberdeen Angus topping at £450 from JP&C Robson, Brock.
A few stirks followed topping at £940 for a Montbeliarde bullock from AJ Metcalfe, Out Rawcliffe. Black and White bull stirks sold to £930 from JR Newsham, Conder Green with this home selling Hereford heifers to £900. Also at £900 was the best of the Friesian cross bullocks from Wellington Crag Farm, Lancaster.

STORE CATTLE

Store cattle to £2680 at Lancaster weekly sale, Bullocks passed £2500 on 24 occasion today, as a pleasing trade was witnessed by all. Topping at £2680 was a Charolais from DE&SM Moorhouse, Natland who sold a further two at £2610. Selling at £2620 was a British Blue from R&DM Rossall, Pilling. Others British Blues sold to £2600 for a pen of four from J Lamb, Old Glasson.
Aberdeen Angus bullocks sold to £2580 for four from G Sagar & Son, Caton with Hereford to the same price from KH&D Holden, Pilling. Limousin to £2520 for three from SJ&AL Hargreaves, Middleton with Black and Whites this week reaching £2200 for a pen of four from K&DE Woodhouse, Ellel.
Heifers to £2500 for a British Blue from FI&ME Little, Barrows Green with Charolais from WD&SW Nightingale next at £2420. Limousin sold to £2280 from JC Prickett, Bentham with Aberdeen Angus to £2200 x2 from RG&B Lewis, Middleton.
Bullocks averaged £2091, up £550 on the year.
Heifers averaged £1953, up £600 on the year.

OTM/CAST CATTLE

The weekly sale of OTM cattle saw an increased entry of 138, seeing a sharper trade on the week with a pleasing overall average of 252p/kg.
Good show of OTM heifers would see JA & R Geldard & Sons, Kendal with a Stabiliser heifer topping at £2768.40 or 384.5p/kg, others from the same home at £2330.07. Other beef bred heifers saw a Limousin at 349.5p/kg or £2131.95 from A & FM Bolland & Sons, Ellel with a Hereford from the same home at £2112.10 or 329.5p/kg. Simmental OTM heifers topped at 359.5p/kg from EJ Ward & Sons, Nether Kellet. Dairy bred OTM heifers topped at £2180.88 or 349.5p/kg for a Friesian from R & E Ladds, Scalthwaiterigg. Other Friesian OTM heifers at £2146.24 or 344.5p/kg from EW & R Towers, Hornby. All OTM heifers today averaged 285p/kg.
OTM cows saw an average of 230.5p/kg, with a better show of meat in today with more beef bred cattle forward. Top of the trade with a Blonde cow was MJ Whitworth, Bolton Le Sands at £2728.53 or 319.5p/kg with other beef bred cows at £2364.30 for a Stabiliser from JA & R Geldard & Sons, Kendal. Dairy bred cows saw Fleckvieh at £2276.00 or 284.5p/kg from EW & R Towers, Hornby who also had Friesian cows at 299.5p/kg or £2123.46. Other Friesian cows at £2103.29 from H Halhead & Son, Nether Kellet. Plenty of other Friesian cows straight out the parlour round the 240-220p/kg mark.
Cast steers saw an average of 251p/kg, topping at 384.5p/kg or £2345.45 for a Limousin from EJ Ward & Sons, Nether Kellet. Aberdeen Angus steers to £2281.77 or 364.5p/kg from RW & G Robinson, Carnforth. Longhorn cast steers topped at £2195 from the Wildlife Trust, Manchester.
Just 1 cast bull today from JE & SM Seedall, Bolton at £2467.76 or 274.5p/kg for a Hereford.
