Lancaster Livestock Auction: Lancaster Weekly Sale of Calves, OTM Cattle & Store Cattle, Friday 1st August 2025

CALVES
Plenty of interest in calves today with the market topping at £800 for an eight week old British Blue cross from JS&KM Wilson & Son. Other best younger sorts were £680 to £760 and month old £560 to £620. Native sired bulls were in abundance, selling to £690 for Hereford cross from Drinkall Bros and Aberdeen Angus cross from HJ Robinson & Son. Younger Aberdeen Angus cross were generally £450 to £360. Shorthorns sold to £400 from JE&SM Seedall. Dairy bulls sold to £340 for a Fleckvieh and £310 for black and whites, stronger end six week olds were £270 to £300 and younger sorts £120 to £150.
A small number of heifer calves today, selling well to a top price of £700 for British Blue cross from Lawsons Dairy Ltd, younger continentals were £460 to £550. Native heifers sold to £560 for Hereford cross from D&M Foster.

STORE CATTLE
Plenty of competition ringside today seeing Limonin cross steers from BW&G Robinson achieve £2580, with other steers to £2550 from RG&H Preece and £2500 from R&A Easterby. Native sired steers sold to £2480 for Aberdeen Angus cross from AT Burrow & Son and £2450 from JS Clark & Sons. Stronger end steers were £2000 to £2300, with medium keep sorts £1800 to £1950. Dairy steer sold to £2320 for Fleckviehs from R Packham & Son, with black and whites £1980 from DH&M Kellet & Son.
Heifers sold to £2420 for Aberdeen Angus cross from DR Preston, who also sold Charolais cross at £2400. Other stronger heifers sold to £2380 for British Blue cross from AJ&D Knowles, stronger heifers were £1950 to £2250, with mediums £1680 to £1800.

OTM / CAST CATTLE
Numbers creeping up with all types good to sell, and averaging 267p/kg. Beef cows sold to 339p/kg for a Limousin cross from J Deacon with feeding types 280p/kg to 310p/kg. Top grossing this week being a Simmental at £2272 from Barlow Bros.
Dairy cows sold to 279p/kg from Lawsons Farm Ltd and K&DE Woodhouse, medium cows were 250p/kg to 265p/kg, with top grossing £2400 from K&DE Woodhouse.
OTM beef heifers sold to 379p/kg for a Stabiliser from J&A Smales and £2182 for a British Blue cross from JD EM JA Atkinson, dairy heifers sold to 339p/kg and £1968 from W&S Airey.
Beef OTM steers sold to 354p/kg and £2180 for a Hereford cross from WS Burrow Ltd with black and whites 269p/kg and £1910 from DH&M Kellet & Sons.
A single Holstein Friesian stock bull from GH Sanderson & Family sold at 244p/kg and £2506.
