Lancaster Auction Mart held their weekly sale of Prime Hoggs which had an entry of 192 forward for the sale. Leading the way today was heavy weight hoggs from G & D Ball & Son, Great Eccleston selling heavy weight Texels to £95. Other Texels sold to £88 and £87 from AG Butler, Hambleton. Leading the way with Charollais at £87 was BD Wood, Out Rawclife, with plenty of heavy weight hoggs selling in the eighties. Mules sold to a top of £78 from Cardwell Farms, Stalmine, with others to £77.50 from D & D Huddleston, Wray. Horned hoggs sold to a top of £76 for Scottish Blackfaces from WM Pye, Lancaster. There was an overall market average of 180p/kg.
There was an entry of 30 ewes in the market this week, which saw Texel ewes top at £83 from G & D Ball & Son, Great Eccleston with Suffolk tups twice selling to £80 from WN & D Smith & Son, Cockerham.
