The annual Hill Farm Day sale of all clesses of Breeding Sheep attracted a good ringside of buyers and on lookers. There were six pens of ten Mule Gimmer Lambs put before our Judge Luke Ayrton, Abbeystead, who awarded the first prize rosette to T Ayrton & Sons, Over Wyredale. These later went on to sell for £71. Out of the show Gimmer lambs topped at £100 for a trio of Zwartbles from J Lowcock & Son, Nateby. All Gimmer Lambs forward sold to an average of £68 for a show of mainly running lambs. Mule Gimmer Shearlings sold to £105 for a pen of 12 from M & YS Barker, Halton with other Mules selling to £100 from M & L Preece of Kirkby Lonsdale. Mule ewes sold to £90 with others to £88 and £80 with Suffolk Ewes selling to £80.
The Texel lamb show was won by K & M Parker, Preston with the second prize rosette going to Hazel Carter of Ellel this went on to sell for £240. Texel Shearling rams sold to £320 from T & CM Kelsall, Chipping with others to £300 from the same good home. Suffolk rams sold to a top of £260 from PD Anderston, Scoton.
500 Store Lambs were forward which sold to a full compliment of buyers, selling to a top of £55 for strong Texel Lambs. KM & KJ Curwens annual consignment of Store Lambs saw Cheviots sell to £51 and Swaledales £33.50.
