BEEF BREEDING CATTLE
The ‘June Fair’ of Breeding Cattle saw a solid trade for all sold, a few breeding bulls sold to £5200 for a 7-year-old Pedigree Limousin from noted cattle breeders MA & JA Winn, Burneside with other bulls to £4000 for a British Blue x Limousin from ID & H Rawlinson, Ulverston.
The sale saw annual consignments of heifers and cows with calves forward, selling to £4200 for a British Blue 2nd Calver with her Limousin heifer calf from ST Birkett & Son, Carnforth. EJ Hodgson, Lambrigg sold their annual run with their 1st prize heifer and calf selling to £4100 with others to £4000. J Woodburn & Partners sold the best of theirs to £3900 with others from this home at £3500.

Bull calves a flyer, selling to £1020 for Inra 95 from AK & BM Robinson, Carnforth with CR Dickson, Cockerham serving up a trio of Simmental bulls to £1000, £980 and £920. Limousin bull calves sold to £950 from Langley Park Farms, Millom with Charolais to £910 from Messrs Gibson & Berry, Endmoor. Aberdeen Angus a nice trade with J & B Morley, Appleby selling bulls to £870 x2 with Blues this week topping at £840 x2 from JS Towers & H Kent, Lancaster. Month old bulls to £810 and £790 for Limousin from R & JE Wharton, Appleby with Blues to £780 from A Pickthall, New Hutton or £650 for 3-week-olds from TK Robinson, Greaves. Dairy bulls to £560 for 6-week-old Montbeliarde from JS & IM Wilson, Monk Foss with Black & Whites to £540 from AK & BM Robinson, Carnforth.
Heifer calves to £860 for Aberdeen Angus from SW & K Metcalfe, Whittington with Simmental to £830 and £800 from CR Dickson, Cockerham. Blue heifers to £790 x2 from RW & SA Nicholson, Lupton and once from J & B Morley, Appleby. Hereford to £660 from Lawkland Hall, Austwick with 3–4-week-olds to £580 for British Blue from TK Robinson, Greaves or £560 for Aberdeen Angus for JS & KM Wilson, Monk Foss.

A solid trade for stirks once again this week with plenty of confidence about for young cattle.
Dairy bred beef cattle, mainly of the Angus, Blue and Limousin variety were certainly wanted today, along with well covered black and whites around the ten month old mark.
Topping the sale overall was a quality British Blue bull stirk from Messrs Whitton making £1380. Coming close in the heifer section was an Angus from AT Burrow & Son making £1350. The heifer section was well competed for with plenty making over the £1300 mark. Many of these were suitable to make breeding cattle if so desired.
Steer trade was topped by a classy Charollais, making £1270, the steer class had a large entry of Holstein / Friesians present topping out a £1100 from Craig Slater. These cattle averaged £951.43 overall.
More stirks required at J36, as reputation for cattle sales grow.

Topping the market with an 810kg Limousin was from PJ & ES Rogerson, Asby making £2993, the same firm had second highest price at £2971.
Dairy cattle averaged £1361 topping at £1935.

STORE CATTLE A TASTY TRADE
J36 cooked up a storm and dished up a trade to savour.
Bullocks sold to £2070 for Aberdeen Angus from regular consignor JE D JER Wightman, Lupton who sold British Blues to £2040 also. Limousin bullocks sold to £2020 from DJ & S Stainton, Howgill with trade for yearling bullocks reaching £1800 for a Blonde x from SJ & NS Wood, Windermere.
Heifers sold to £1890 for a British Blue from C & B Cummings & Son, Preesall with JE D JER Wightman close behind at £1880. 12 month old Limousins reached £1860 for a belter from FW Park, Windermere and dairy bred Limousin yearlings sold to £1680 from TW Nelson & Son, Cockrigg.
A handful of bulls sold to £1820 for a 12 month old Simmental from RJS & DM Addison, Kings Meaburn with 11 month old Limousins to £1700 from J Bosworth, Burnley.
