BREEDING EWES
The day’s trading kicked off with over 1000 breeding ewes through ring 1, trade was fast and buoyant throughout selling to £390 for 5 very nice Park Cheviot 2 crops from AR Edmondson, Hawkswell with this good home topping the mule ewes at £315 again for 2 crops. JM Mawson, Holbeck sold Mules to £300 with N Barker, Dalton and PJ & ES Rogerson, Maison Gill selling pens at £290. Texel x ewes sold to £280 from J & M Wilson, Cooper House with others at £270 from FI & ME Little, Helm Croft. Older 4 crop ewes sold to £205 for Mules from JE & WB Wearing, Low Shaw Farm with others at £190 from R Falconer & Son, Water Blean.

Following the ewes were the Masham shearlings, these meeting perhaps the strongest trade of the day, selling to £260 for 15 smart types from DE Jackson, Cliburn with others to £250 on two occasions from MJ Woof, Millriggs. Cheviot Mule shearlings sold to £305 and £300 from J Stott, Kingsland with others at £300 and £295 from JS & KM Wilson, Kendal.
MULE SHEARLINGS
The highly anticipated and prestigious annual show and sale of North of England mule shearlings saw averages up on the year.
The sale peaked at £390 for a cracking pen from TH Gibson & Son, Seedfield with all 10 of these purchased from the NEMSA gimmer lamb sale at J36, this home continued its good days trading with other pens at £370, £350 and £340 averaging £313.30 for 115 sold. Other notable prices saw JR & LA Capstick, Killington sell pens to £380 with the annual consignment from Fox Farms selling two pens to £320. Messrs Whitaker, Salthouse sold their good run to a high of £320 with others to £305 from Messrs JS & KM Wilson, High House. Plenty of pens to £300 including the best from T Sharp, Levens and M & YS Barker, Halton with an overall average of £270.54 achieved for this section of the sale.
CONTINENTAL & SUFFOLK SHEARLINGS
At 12:30pm ring 2 burst into life alongside proceedings in the main ring.
Both Suffolk and Continental Gimmer Shearlings presented to an eager crowd that saw quality way exceed expectations. A top of £510 for a run of top pure Suffolk sheep from Messrs J & C Airey. Texel shearlings topped at £430 for a pen of 10 real machines from Messrs PJ & ES Rogerson, others sold to £390 for five from the same good farming. A pen of 10 from Messrs JR & LA Capstick wonderful run hit £380. With Messrs JA Chapman just behind selling 11 good gimmers to £370.
