J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction: J36 Weekly Sale of Prime Lambs & Cast Ewes, Tuesday 5th August 2025.

PRIME LAMBS

Lamb trade stands strong.
No let up at Junction 36 with an overall average of 356p/kg, for the largest show of numbers so far this season.
A top price of £220 was achieved for a Texel from Messrs M&RW Stirzaker. The same good home had another at £217. PJ&ES Rogerson then had a pair of 54gk Texels which achieved £208. Suffolks topped at £200 for a pen of four from WT Whitaker & Son. A smart pair of Texels from Messrs Atkinson, Stubbs Farm raced to 402.6p/kg with these weighing 39kgs. A pair of 40kgs sold for 392.5p/kg from JE D JER Wightman. Heavier types also adding up well with 44kg lambs from PJ&ES Rogerson making 389.8p/kg this was for a pen of eight. The same home also had two more in the mid 50kgs achieving 385.2p/kg.

CAST SHEEP

An increased entry of 727 cull ewes forward today, with buyers ringside capable of handling the larger show. Leaner ewes saw an increase, with feeding orders keen to be filled and all classes maintained recent levels.
