We are pleased to announce the appointment of John Garnett to the main board of L&K Group plc. He is 51 years young, married with 3 children and farms near Milnthorpe, Cumbria. His family farm approximately 500acres, with 200 dairy cows selling milk to Sainsbury’s and 500 breeding sheep.
John is very well known and respected in the area having been involved for many happy years with the Young Farmers’ Clubs, just recently concluding his term as District President for South Cumbria. John has been on the National judging panel for Holstein then the Holstein Friesian Society since the age of 16, has judged cattle all over UK and Ireland including the Dairy Event, Royal Welsh and hopefully the Royal Highland this year. As well as sitting on the main board, John has also been appointed to the livestock board which meets regularly to oversee the livestock auction business.
John brings many attributes to the board. He is forward thinking and business minded and knows the importance of supporting the livestock business to withstand the many challenges ahead as farming subsidies and environmental support payment change in a post-Brexit landscape. He is excited about the opportunity the J33 Lancaster/Garstang relocation will bring to the Group.
