Lancaster Livestock Auction: Lancaster Weekly Sale of Calves, OTM Cattle & Store Cattle, Friday 18th September 2026.

CALVES

Just 60 calves in Lancaster today, with all lots reaching full value.
Topping at £880 was a bull from JM&DJ Townley, Quernmore with month old British Blue to £750 from CR&A Baxter, Morecambe. Charolais sold to £740 at the same age from JE&SM Seedall, Mellor.
Heifer calves in good demand, selling to £750 for Aberdeen Angus from JM&DJ Townley, Quernmore with Wallbank Farms selling a very sweet Blue to £730. RE&P Miller, Barnacre sold their usual nice run of Herefords to £640 x2 and £620. The real youngest sold to £550 for a three week old British Blues from CR&A Baxter, Morecambe.
More calves needed at Lancaster, do not hesitate to get in touch.

STORE CATTLE

Store cattle see a lift in trade for the fittest, most forward types with harder farmed, long keep sorts meeting more resistance.

£2480 was achieved on 3 occasions, firstly from Rick Moore with his South Devon, Messrs Foy with their Blue and a pair of Aberdeen Angus from T & E Garlick at the same price. 12 Bullocks over £2400 today with a further 15 lots over £2200. Black & White Steers looking well sold topping at £2100 with numerous pens of all breeds over £2000.

Heifers followed the same script, reaching £2300 for Blues from SH & LE Birkett. Angus to £1900 from WR Clarke, Pilling with Limousins from this home at the same price. A shortage of real forward Heifers today with many more needed each week.

OTM CATTLE

A very ordinary show of OTMs in today meant meat and quality was rewarded.

Top grossing was a Hereford Heifer from H Halhead & Son, Nether Kellet reaching £2342.09 with a Limousin Steer from RG & LR Holmes next at £2278.74. Black & Whites to £2231.12 for a Steer from R & E Ladds, Kendal with Black & White Heifers to £2156.40 from GA & A Atkinson, Cantsfield.

OTM Cows to 314.5p/kg for Hereford from MS & G Mason, Kirkby Lonsdale or 264.5p/kg for Flekvieh from EW & RM Towers, Hornby.
