Sale of Horses, Ponies and Donkeys, J36, Saturday 27th June
Yet another successful sale with 200 entries and despite a fire alarm in the middle of the sale, trade was good throughout. The day topped right at the end by Sydney, a 3 year old registered Clydesdale gelding at 7700gns and going to his new home in the heart of the Lake District.
Cobs were topped by another quality sort from regular consignor, C Anderson from Carrutherstown with Esther a big strapping 2 year skewbald filly selling at 5800gns; the same home also selling Kirkstyle Rowan, a 3 year old dun filly at 3000gns and Hendawle Marmalade a 2 year old dun spotted gelding at 3000gns. R Valks sold Bruno a 17hh+ Clydesdale x gelding at 4800gns and D Speed sold a quality TGCA registered 3 year old piebald filly at 4200gns. With many other cobs of all ages, size and colours, selling well over the 2000gns mark.
Natives were topped by Westwick Taff, a 5 year old registered Section A Dales gelding from G&R Dunn, selling at 2800gns, closely followed by another registered Dales gelding Colliery Scooby from AW Morland at 2200gns. The same home also selling a registered grey Fell stallion, Stennerskeugh Ringo at 1200gns. Registered Shetlands topped at 1350gns for a pretty skewbald mare and colt foal from W Broad and Login Mist a 7 year mare from C Eland at 900gns.
Donkeys were topped by two Jennys from C Foster of Scotland, selling at 700gns each and going to the same home. Another regular vendor R Toward sold Doughnut, an 8 year Jenny at 600gns.
The next sale at J36 will be the Fell Pony Society and Mountain and Moorland sale on Saturday 31st October to include a section for registered Shetland ponies, followed by the General sale on Saturday 14th November.
