The middle quality Continental bulls, heifers and native bulls remain in plenty of demand and regularly achieving £300 and more, with native heifers taking a drop as many more come out on to the market as many dairy herds are calving heifers. The trade for Black and White bull calves remains firm.
Once again, a cracking run of British Blues from J&G Thornley, Kirkham sold bulls to £480 and £440 and heifers to £420 and £400. Other leading prices were £455 for six week old British Blue bulls from V&EJ Chadwick & Son, Sowerby, followed by £420 from JE&J Pye & Son, Quernmore. A run of Black and white bull stirks at 4-5 month old from Hannah Kent, Cockerham sold to £320 and £300.

STORE CATTLE
