The Christmas show and sale of Dairy cattle had a smaller entry forward than entered due to the weather and other unforeseen circumstances. There was a buoyant trade enjoyed throughout with all heifers forward going to new homes.
The pre-sale show was judged by Richard Frankland and Thomas Moorhouse of Rathmell, Settle who we thank for their time and expertise. The championship rosette was awarded to the Inman Family of Strickland Hillm, Witherslack with a second calved cow, Witherslack Airintake Eclipse, giving 46litres selling to £2000 going home with the judge. The reserve championship was awarded to MJ & H Atkinson of the Wyresdale herd with Wyresdale Sammy Monica 197 forward only 10 days calved selling for £1,780.
The monthly consignment from the Drinkall Bros of Catshaw farm sold to a top of £2,000 for one of the renowned Pennine Poppy number 1285 of this famous family yielding 29 litres.
The sale sold to an overall market average of £1692.
