Pigs
Prime pigs continue to sell to an improving trade peaking at £126 for Large White x gilts from JM Navesey, Darwen who also sold hogs at £120 with other gilts selling to £120 for Large White x from AT Threlked, Ulverston. Other lighter weight pigs sold to £92 for Large White boars from E Spedding & Son, Egremont with others at £82 for Saddleback gilts from L Cuthbertson, Windermere and £80 for Duroc x gilts from G Hargreaves, Lancaster.
Top p/kg today of 122p/kg for gilts from L Cuthbertson, Windermere with all prime pigs forward averaging 95p/kg. Cull cows sold to £70 from L Cuthbertson.
Just a single pen of weaners today sold to £22 from Messrs Halpin, Broughton in Furness.

Sheep With Lambs at Foot
There was an entry in excess of 250 Sheep with lambs at foot forward selling to another buoyant trade at J36 in which was great to see fresh faces ringside looking to purchase. Taking the top spot at £320 were aged Continental ewes with smart Beltex lambs selling to £320 from Messrs Buckle, Kirkby Stephen. Continental shearlings with Beltex twins sold to £270 from S Bosworth, Burnley. Broken mouthed continental ewes with Texel twin lambs sold to £265 from MB Flatman & Son, Over Wyresdale. There were plenty of outfits selling in the region of £250. Mule shearlings with twins to £255 from C Barker, Halton. More hill ewes were forward on the market today meeting plenty of demand with brocken mouthed Herdwick ewes with twin lambs to £130 from Kirkby and Longworth, Broughton in Furness.

Spring Lambs
A similar number of spring lambs forward this week selling to a market average of 309p/kg. the consignment from W Garnett & Son, Milnthorpe lead the way selling to £157 or 365p/kg with others from the same home selling to £150. Plenty more spring lamb sold around the £140 mark.

Prime Hoggs
A full variety of prime hoggs were forward today from the good, the bad and the very in different. Good quality in speciation hoggs were in big demand and eagerly bid for, topping the market at £165 was heavy weight Texels from C Head, Kendal. This was followed by other heavy weight Texels to £145 and £144 from N Barker, Burton in Kendal with plenty of good hoggs selling in the region of £140. Better bred handy weighted hoggs sold in excess of 300p/kg peaking at 342p/kg from GM&A Jackson, Little Eccleston.

Cast Sheep
A fast trade for all cull sheep today with a market average of £102 for all sold. Heavy ewes were keenly bid for selling to £220 for a pure Texels from E Dodgson, Kendal with others at £180 from CG Birkett, Carnforth and £178 from M&S Blease, Carnforth. Other pure bred and heavy ewes generally sold between £145-£160.
Mules sold to £138 from JC Dunning, Orton with others from R&J Dodgson, Natland and £130 J Kitching & Son, Grange Over Sands.
Hill bred ewes sold to £126 for Rough Fells from C Head, Kendal and Scottish Black Faces to £124 from O Hodgson, Old Hutton, Cheviots £120 from Stockdale Farm, Sedbergh and Swaledales to £106 from Fishwick Bros, Longsleddale.
Cull rams sold to £250 for a Texel from WS Burrow & Son, Carnforth with Suffolks to £228 from S&J Sharpe, Barrow in Furness and Charolais to £210 from J Twigge, Lindale. Hill rams sold to £114 for Scottish Black Face rams from O Hodgson, Old Hutton with Swaledales to £100 from AP&R Crowe, Rusland. All cull rams forward averaged £140.
