previous sale with a busy ringside of buyers ensuring that all types of hoggs met eager bidding and
vendors leaving well chuffed. Them strong short keep Suffolk and continental hoggs sold in excess of
the £100 mark with nicely bred mediums regularly mid-eighties to early nineties. Fresh buyers
ringside ensured that horned hoggs sold to a lot sharper trade with more hoggs wanted for next
fortnights sale with plenty of buyers expressing a strong interest especially with many reporting
good crops of roots to finish hoggs on.
The sale topped at £120 for Beltex hoggs from W Stamper, Chipping with other Beltex hoggs selling
to £112 from G GU & D Swarbrick, Meathop. Texel hoggs sold £114 from DR Harrison, Selside with
other Texel hoggs selling £112 from PM & ST Entwistle, Abbeystead followed by others to £110 from
DR & C Galbraith, Grayrigg. Suffolk hoggs twice sold to £106.50 from TA Teasdale, Newton in
Cartmel followed by £106 from DR Harrison, Selside with Charollais hoggs to the same price from JC
Walling & Son, Lyth Valley. Mule hoggs peaked at £97 from FB Dunning & Son, Orton with others to
£96 from G GU & D Swarbrick, Meathop. Horned hoggs sold to £84 from FB Dunning & Son, Orton
with Swaledales selling to £78 from TW & J Beaty, Troutbeck.
