Prime Pigs
A nice entry of Landrace x pigs sold to keen interest topping at £118 for gilts with others £115 and boars to £106.
Top price was 151p/kg with all sold averaging 130p/kg.

PRIME LAMBS SELL TO £110 AT NWA J36
The weekly sale of prime sheep saw an improved trade for all classes and types, with all lambs sold averaging 183p/kg.
The sale topped at £110 for well-bred Texel x lambs from J Twigge, well-fleshed heavyweight lambs were nicely selling between £90 and £100. Medium weight lambs topped at £90.50 for Texel x with most achieving £82 to £88. Lightweight lambs were easily sold providing they were well-finished and not in 'store’ condition. Best bred lightweights were selling £68 to £72 with 28kg to 32kg Lambs selling between £35 and £55.
Top price per kilo this week was 206p/kg for Suffolk x from DM & D Cook with other well-bred lambs 195p/kg to 205p/kg, providing they had the finish. First cross Suffolk and Texel lambs were 185p/kg – 195p/kg for well-finished, with others 175p/kg to 185p/kg dependent on weight.
Hill lambs were starting to come forward in greater numbers with Cheviots to £80 (178p/kg), Mules to £74.50 (176p/kg) and Swaledales to 150p/kg for lightweights.
Cast Sheep
All cull sheep averaged £47 for an entry of predominantly lean hill bred ewes. Strongest ewes sold to £99 for Texels from GM Metcalfe with other heavy ewes at £86 to £93.
Medium ewes were generally selling between £65 and £82, with Mules to £71 from R & J Dodgson. Best of the hill bred ewes sold to £61 for Scotch Blackfaces from JW & TE Sharp, medium Swaledales £30 - £40, and leaner sorts were £15 - £28.
