POPULAR RBST SALE ATTRACTS LARGE CROWD AT NWA J36
North West Auctions held its autumn sale of Rare and Minority Breed Livestock on Saturday 25th August, which saw buyers in attendance from Scotland, Norfolk and West Wales alongside strong attendance from the northern counties.
A feature of the sale was the flock dispersal of The Oakton Norfolk Horn flock on behalf of Lewis Walton. The sale topped at £255 for a gimmer shearling finding a new home in Norfolk and ewes sold to £130 going as far afield as Scotland and West Wales.
German Red Fox sheep sold to £230 with gimmer lambs at £120. A White Ryeland ewe from JA Barnes achieved £122, Kerry Hill shearlings sold to £112, Zwartble shearlings sold to £100 and gimmer lambs to £90. Badger Faced ewes achieved £65, Coloured Ryeland gimmer lambs to £62 and Jacob gimmer lambs to £60.
A special entry of Gotland gimmer lambs attracted much interest and sold to £68. Hebridean shearlings achieved a top price of £55. Pygmy goats sold to £52 for wether kids.
There was a catalogued entry of 125 lots of poultry sold on Saturday 25th. Heading up the sale was two Legbar pullets at £78 from F Gate with others from the same home at £72. JM Smith sold two Black Pekin bantams to £70. Maran pullets were the best to sell topping at £65 from R Millard. Nice to have some running ducks to sell topping at £65 from AW Jennings.
