Prime Lambs

The August bank holiday Monday sale of prime lambs had an entry of 685 forward selling to a brisk trade, averaging 185p/kg. Best conformation, well finished lambs sold in excess of 200p/kg numerous times topping at 215p/kg from P & S Robinson of Claughton on Brock with the same home topping the price per head trade at £100. JK & BE Townley of Brookhouse sold Texel lambs to £98.50. The most Mules forward in the market today sold to a strong trade topping at £80.50 and £77.50 from JS & S Atkinson of Scorton with 42kg Mules from AC & K Pye of Abbeystead selling to £74 and 40kg Mules selling to £72.50 from B & SE Carter of Ellel with all Mules forward averaging £74.50.

Cast Sheep

There was a smaller entry of just over 100 cast ewes selling to a sharper trade today. The trade topped at £100 from MJ & K Ayrton of Thurnham with plenty of pens of big continental ewes selling in the nineties. Mule ewes topped at £89 from CM & CA Jackson of Caton with others to £87 from MJ & K Ayrton of Thurnham with plenty of pens of big Mules selling into the eighties with all Mules forward averaging £77.
