The annual show and Sale of Beltex sheep on behalf of the Beltex sheep society had a nice entry forward an saw the pre-sale show very kindly sponsored by JG Animal Health who we would like to thank for the continued support. The show was expertly judged by Jack Buckle of Kirkby Stephen who commented on the good quality of sheep forward. The championship rosette was awarded to the Gimmer Shearling lot 22 Holmebeck Aphrodite from P & A Moss of Ewebank Farm. The reserve champion was awarded to LM & C Whitaker of Moorland Cottage with a shearling ram lot 7 Duddon Artful Dodger.

A mixed trade for rams with the females selling to an extremely strong trade, Beltex Rams sold to a top of 800gns for lot 3 Holmebeck Alaska from P & A Moss of Ewebank Farm with the reserve champion shearling ram lot 7, Duddon Artful Dodger selling for 700gns. Boys are Back in Town

A very mixed entry in terms of quality for the Multi Breed Breeding Rams, which has been seen throughout the breeding ram sale season. Good quality rams were very good too sell with second quality rams very difficult to sell. Beltex x charollais rams sold to a top of £600 from LJJ Wight of Biggar. Texel rams sold to £550 from DH Lucas & FA Nairey who had a strong consignment of Texel breeding rams regularly selling in the mid four hundreds. Pure Charollais breeding rams sold to £450 from JA & R Geldard & Sons of Low Faulshaw Farm. Plenty of strong breeding rams selling around the £400 mark.
