Spring Lambs

The weekly sale of prime lambs at Lancaster saw all lambs forward sell to a market average of 183ppk with 39 to 45kg lambs best to sell averaging 185ppk. Export and best quality lambs continue to sell in excess of 200ppk topping at 208ppk for Texel lambs from G & D Ball & Son of Great Eccleston. It was good to see more consignments of mule lambs forward in the market with all vendors leaving pleased with their trade. A pen of 32 mule lambs from BD Gill of Yarlsber selling to £82.50. Heavy weight lambs sold to a top of £90 weighing 46kg from B & J Preston of Ellers Farm.

Cast Sheep

A sharper cast ewe trade then the previous week at Lancaster, with continental ewes selling to a top of £93 from JK & BE Townley of Mearsbeck with plenty of continental ewes selling to the seventies. Mule ewes sold either sold of £70 topping at £73 from WA Ward of Ancliffe Hall.
