BREEDING CATTLE
There was 71 Beef Breeding Cattle forward at the NWA June Sale.

A nice show of Heifers & calves sold well to a good ringside of buyers. Overall average £1492, with Cows & calves averaging £1257. Top price was £1950 for a Limousin Heifer with a Lim bull calf at foot from E J Hodgson & Son, Lambrigg Head.

Lim Hfr with bull calf: £1950, £1880, £1850 Lambrigg Head. Lim Hfr with hfr calf: £1900 Bents Farm; £1780 Lambrigg Head. Brit Blue Hfr with hfr calf: £1650 Nether Hall. Lim Cow with bull calf: £1780 Barbon Fell House. Ang Cow with hfr calf: £1620 Bowston Hall. Lim Cow with hfr calf: £1600 Mansriggs Hall. Cont Cow with bull calf: £1580 High Arnside, Barker Knott.

In-Calf Hfrs: BB: £1100 High Borrowbridge.

Breeding Bulls: Ang: £1700 Bank Ground.

REARING CALVES
The weekly sale of calves had a stronger entry of 40 forward. A strong trade throughout with plenty of people looking for all types of calves. Dennis Cottam of Hagg Farm sold a couple of British Blue bull calves at 5 weeks old, selling to £400 each. British Blue heifers sold to £390 from JW & TE Sharp of Flodder Hall. A consignment of Limousin calves from DR & C Galbraith of Sunny Bank. Strong black and whites easily sold in excess of £100 topping at £185 from RG & JA Clark of Low Audlands, with young black and white rearers regularly between £70 and £90.

No stirks forward this week but purchasers expressing plenty of interest in stirks

Heifer calves: BrB: £390 Flodder Hall; £330 Elm Tree Farm. Lim: £190 Swarthmoor Hall Farm; £172 Sunny Bank. Sim: £150 Swarthmoor Hall. Ang: £140 The High Farm.
