The sale also included the Easter Prize Show & Sale of Spring Lambs. The two classes were judged by Mr James Bleankhorn of Harrogate who awarded the Championship Rosette to Mr Alan Barnes of Kirkby Lonsdale with a 44 kilo Texel x Beltex lamb which sold for £138 to Mr R Matterson of Bootle on behalf of Irvings Butchers of Ulverston. Several outlets were looking for New Season Lambs and more could have been sold. There were a lot of heavy weight lambs forward and more handy weight lambs are required.

A very mixed show of prime hoggs were put before a full ringside of buyers and following in line with the national trend all classes would be just a shade easier on the week but good well fleshed hoggs would not take too much harm. It was the plainer, leaner hoggs which met a little bit more resistance. Hoggs topped at £108 per head for a pen of Texel x from WS Brying of Keerholme and a top price per kilo of 225p for Texels from Mr B Bowness of Kendal. Still a very pleasing average of 203.23p/kg was achieved.

A larger show of cast sheep were forward with a larger percentage of leaner ewes forward today. Ewes topped at £116 per head for Texel x from EM Standing of Witherslack.
