Prime Lambs

Prime Lambs average 181ppk at Lancaster. The trade easier than last week in Lancaster but in line with markets at the end of last week. There was a plainer show of lambs in Lancaster with pens of lambs lacking finish but well finished lambs were in strong demand from a ring full of buyers. Many pens of better quality fleshy lambs sold into the late 190’s with the trade being topped at 205ppk from T R Prickett, G A Haston & Son and C & A Haston. The top price of the day came jointly from T R Prickett and A J Metcalf.

Cast Sheep

A smaller show of cast sheep today with all sheep averaging £52. The trade was topped at £96 with Texels from R A Holmes of Inskip. Fleshy continental ewes regularly sold in the late 60’s early 70’ and pens of fleshy mule ewes sold into the early 60’s.

Prime Bulls

Prime bulls continue to sell well at Lancaster and be in demand although there was just a handful forward today at Lancaster. The trade averaged out at 195ppk. The trade was topped by Swarbricks of Bensons Farm with a Limousin x selling for 207.5ppk, a prime bull from the same home also topped the day’s trade selling for £1367. Montbeliarde bulls from G A Haston & Son sold to 191.5ppk.

Clean Cattle

Just one heifer forward today which was from P & A Bell, Village Farm selling for 187.5ppk for a Hereford heifer. More clean cattle needed to meet the demand of buyers.
