Lancaster Dairy to £3150 at Popular Monthly Sale

NWA Lancaster held its final dairy sale of 2013 on Monday 16th December which saw a shippon full of cattle attract a large crowd of buyers from the Northern Counties and the Midlands. The strength and quality of the catalogue saw several new customers in attendance.

Judging was conducted by Mr D Graves, Armathwaite who had a very strong line-up of cattle presented before him in all four classes.

The championship rosette was awarded to the first prize halter led heifer Stardale Recount Stella from J Burrow & Son, giving 32litres she sold to a final bid of £2750 from A Smith, Leicestershire. The reserve champion was awarded to Pennine Nancy Lass 171 from Msrs Drinkall Bros, which later sold for the sales top price of £3150. First prize non halter led heifer Lordsplain Steady Beryl 2 from FG & MR Martin reached a closing bid of £2920.

All vendors must be complemented on their entries which saw a total of 15 sell in excess of £2500 and two break the £3000 barrier.
