A STRONG TRADE FOR DAIRY CATTLE IN LANCASTER

A show of real quality stock forward today at Lancaster was met by a ring full of buyers keen to invest in the quality on offer which meant all traders went away suited with their trade.

This month’s Champion came from J & M Sanderson, Pasture Barn with a real cracking heifer, Sandcrest Carol 58, selling to W A Eccles, Sudells Farm for £2,620. The reserve Champion also came from the Sanderson family – this time Sandcrest Con Duchess 15. This heifer sold for £2250 to E E Thornton & Sons, Downlands. Also selling for £2250 was Witherslack Sure Liz from the Inman family at Strickland Hill to W A Eccles, Sudells Farm.

All through the sale heifers were good to sell with plenty of buyers looking to purchase some of the quality stock on show. This lead to the heifers averaging £2,060.

Just a couple of second calvers forward today, topping at £2,000 for Higher Core for Corfield Marqi 5 from W J & I France.

Our thanks to the pre-sale judge, Mr Stephen Coates of the Baildon herd and to the show and sale sponsors, Dectomax – Wynnstay(J Hatton Agriculture); Ribble Fuel Oils and Marr & MacGregor Nutrition.
