SPRING LAMBS BEST TRADE YET

North West Auctions Lancaster enjoyed a premium trade for all spring lambs on Monday morning. There was hardly a lamb in the Market at over 40 kilos and the sale average £100 (258p/kg) for all lambs. A top price of 269p/kg went to PW & DW Roskell, Springfield for Continental x lambs which were purchased by Roy Schofield for MJ Birtwistle & Co. butchers of Worsley. Lambs also peaked at £105 for Suffolk lambs from WN & D Smith & Son, Cocker House and these were purchased by Lancaster Meats Ltd.

Another good end of season entry of prime hoggs averaged 207p/kg with far more heavier hoggs in the market this week. Standard weight hoggs upto 40kg averaged 215pkg and lighter hoggs were in most demand of all averaging 219p/kg.
