1200 prime hoggs & cast sheep were put forward to an increased ringside of buyers at Kendal on Tuesday. Hoggs weighing 37-41kg were the easiest to sell on the day topping at 222p/kg for a pen of Texel x from MW & MR Black, Scroggs Farm selling to B Riley & Sons for £86.50. The top price per head of £97 was paid for a pen of heavy hoggs from Messrs Carruthers, Red Scar.

A plainer entry of cast sheep met an absolutely blistering trade for all classes forward with a lot of plain Mule ewes in excess of £80 per head and lean Swaledale ewes £35-£45 with better sorts breaking the £60 mark. Top price in this section was £114 per head to SW Atkinson & Son, Capplerigg. Overall average £68.48.
