A rise in sheep numbers forward this week were met by a ringside of buyers all keen to bid for all classes of sheep. Best meated lambs sold to £91 for Texels from JK & BE Townley with heavy lambs generally £70-£75. Lambs also sold to 179p/kg with well fleshed lambs once again commanding a premium, buyers continue to be cautious of ‘out of spec’ lambs.

Cast sheep saw an uplift in price with the strongest ewes £76-£85, hill ewes £42-£48.

Prime bulls sold to a top price of 211.5p/kg for a well finished British Blue form E & N Wright & Sons, most 185-190p/kg with dairy bulls 167.5p/kg. Top price per head this week goes to JM & AG Swarbrick for a British Blue bull which sold at £1209.

Next week’s sale to include the Christmas Shows for Prime Lambs & Prime Cattle.
