Kendal’s Fortnightly Store Lamb Sale

North West Auctions Kendal Mart sold 1627 store lambs to a large ringside of buyers with many farmers now looking for lambs to eat surplus grass. Prices remain in line with the current fat market prices. Strongest short keep lambs sold to £59.50 for Texel x from TJ Beaty. Short keep lambs generally £55-£58, medium keep £49-£54 with the smallest £28-£45. Hill lambs sold to £35 for Herdwicks with tup lambs generally £40-£50.

The market average of £43 reflects the large number of small lambs and hill lambs now coming forward.
