A decent entry of 1589 prime lambs and 337 prime ewes were better to sell than expected with lambs up to 40kgs averaging more than 175p/kg and an overall sale average of 171p/kg.  A top price of 195p/kg went to JG & PH Thompson, Poppy Farm for quality Texel lambs making £76 and purchased by Jim Hadwin butcher of Mansergh.  Prime lambs also sold to £79.50 to JW & A Mathews, Oldfield End for Texel lambs also purchased by Jim Hadwin.   

Cast sheep were a mixed bag this week.  Heavy ewes topped at £104 to Messrs Thompson Poppy Farm for Texel ewes.  There were buyers for all types of ewe.  

A small entry of rearing calves were all Black & Whites topping at £98 (3 times) to Ashton Agriculture of Ashlack Hall for Friesian calves.
