As prime lamb numbers continue to rise a full ringside of buyers ensured a very competitive trade for the lambs sold albeit being a shade easier than the previous week but leaving an overall market average of 232p/kg.  Trade topped at 268p/kg for a pen of Texel x lambs from Mrs JA Airey, Old Croft and these were purchased by Jim Hadwin of Mansergh.  Top price per head on the day of £120 was achieved by J & O Galbraith & Son, Endmoor Farm.

A smaller entry of cast sheep were forward.  Prices were a little easier than previous weeks but still looked a marvellous trade with the best Continental sheep over the £100 per head mark.  Strong Rough Fell ewes £80-85 and plainer sorts £70-75.  Swaledale ewes £70-78 with leaner sorts £50-60.

A small show of Black & White bull calves forward today with a fantastic trade topping at £200 for a 27 day old Friesian bull from ML & SM Dobson, Espford.

Plenty of sheep with lambs at foot still coming forward and although a full ringside of buyers were present trade was slightly easier on the week.  Mule hoggs & single lambs sold to £165 from J & T Hunter, Moser Hill.  2 crop Mule ewes with twins sold to £195 from F & IM Potter, Lambrigg Park.
