MARVELLOUS BULL TRADE ONCE AGAIN

Leading the way in the prime cattle section was a quality pure Limousin bull from Nether Hall Farms Ltd selling at 205.5p/kg to Bowland Foods. Top price bull per head was from the same home and sold at £1210.  Eight bulls forward averaged 191/kg with more needed to meet strong demand.   A small entry of ten prime cattle averaged 185p/kg.  Topping the heifer trade was DW & NM Alderson, High Green with a Limousin selling for 200.5p/kg to Roy Schofield for Hartshead Meats Ltd.  

In the prime lamb ring a reduced entry of 909 lambs were forward.  As always Lancaster trade was as strong as any other early week market with all classes of lambs averaging 160p/kg.  Leading the trade was T & CM Kelsall & Sons, Brown Brook for their Texel x lambs at 201p/kg selling to Roy Schofield for MJ Birtwistle butchers of Worsley. Messrs Kelsall also sold the top price per head of £78 to Lancaster Meats.
