North West Auctions Lancaster Mart had forward a slightly reduced entry of prime lambs which was disappointing to buyers many of whom were well armed with orders. On the day lambs averaged an excellent 158.5p/kg for all breeds with standard weight lambs averaging 162.9p/kg.

Both the top price per head and per kilo went to TR Prickett of Hutton Roof Hall whose Texel lambs made £75.50 (189p/kg) purchased by Roy Schofield for Samuel Howarth Ltd butchers of Diggle.

A small entry of ewes were their dearest level for some weeks . A Top price of £91 went to T & CM Kelsall & Sons, Brown Brook.

In the prime cattle ring all cattle sold nicely with a top price of 182.5p/kg awarded to TH Garnett & Son, New Close for a Limousin Heifer purchased by Roy Schofield for Samuel Howarth Ltd butchers of Diggle. A commercial entry of bulls sold to 141.5p/kg for a Charolais from K Whitaker & Son, Stizakers Farm.
