North West Auctions Kendal held their weekly sale of primestock on Tuesday and an improved entry of more than 1600 prime lambs together with 670 cast ewes were a better trade than expected on the day. Standard weight lambs averaged 148.31p/kg selling to a top of 169p/kg for Texel lambs from A E Atkinson Stubb Farm, purchased by B Riley & Sons butchers of Rottenstall. A top price per head of £74 was achieved twice firstly for Suffolk lambs from Mrs A M Jennings & Son, Must Hill bought by B Riley & Sons and then again for Suffolks from G Cuthbertson, Capple Rigg this time selling to Michael Lomax.
Cast ewes were a real trade topping at £98 for Suffolks from Messrs Redmayne of Gowan Bank.
