Farmer Flood Meeting

By Olivia Muir, 09 January 2017 –

An invitation to all farmers and landowners in the River Kent catchment area

Monday 23rd January 7.30pm in Ring 1 at Kendal Auction – J36

Many farmers and landowners within the catchment continue to be very frustrated and unhappy with progress on agreeing suitable management plans for the future.

The recurring themes among local farmers include:

Managing the river bed-gravel, trees in the water, catch pits not
being emptied.
Water levels within the lakes.
Loss of habitat, wildlife and our livestock.
The poor relationships we have with Government Agencies who
we feel obstruct rather than support .
Lack of trust with the agencies often whom we feel have far less
experience and knowledge in managing the water on our farms
than we do.

If you share the concerns please do attend the meeting. There is plenty of information and public support from more than 40 Cumbrian Flood Groups.
