On the 15th August, NWA Lancaster opened its doors for a stock judging and social evening. The evening was a huge success with over 300 people attending, both auction mart regulars and new faces to the market.

The evening was based around a stock judging night, with four pens of sheep kindly shown by FI & ME LITTLE (Mule Gimmer Shearlings), B & SE CARTER (Mule Gimmer Lambs), ME WANNOP & SONS (Prime Lambs) and PK & R WOOF (Texel Tups). Competition was extremely close when judging commenced, with the overall winners being tied on points. The Towers Cup, generously donated by Frank Towers of Curwin Hill was donated jointly to George Preece of Thornbush, Roeburndale and Edwin Drinkwater of Conder Mill, Quernmore. Many thanks to out master judges, Raymond Heigh, Andrew Finch and Robert Tarbart who kindly gave up their evening to support us.

No evening could go ahead without food and drink and our thanks go to Lancaster Brewery for supplying the bar and Taylors of Bamber Bridge for supplying the hog roast.

Many thanks to our sponsors for the evening, Hattons, Myerscough College, Barnes & Bolton, Paxtons, NFU and Lune Valley YFC, all of which held stands or had a presence on site on the evening.

A large donation of raffle prizes contributed to the total of £215 donated to Derian House Childrens Hospice.

All in all, a fantastic evening was had and a real buzz was felt throughout the auction. Great to see all farming generations coming together. Many thanks to all involved and all that attended.
