Clean Sweep for Sweetings Herd at Lancaster Dairy Sale
The much anticipated January Dairy Sale at North West Auctions saw Lawsons Farm Ltd, Cockerham take a clean sweep in all three show classes
The championship rosette was awarded to ‘Sweetings Altaroble Kathy 2’ by Judge David Tomlinson, Bilsborrow. This heifer later sold to a final bid of £2500, the reserve champion ‘Sweetings Lambda Anne’ sold at £2550. It was the first prized cow ‘Sweetings Dreamer Patty’ that topped the sale, fresh into her second lactation and selling for £2580.
W&G Cornthwaite, Claughton-on-Brock had a successful day selling the much admired ‘Garsby Uno Pandora 2’ at £2400 followed by Drinkall Bros, Over Wyresdale selling ‘Pennine Poppy 1574’ at £2320. ‘Denhamhill Webmail Daisy’ consigned by EH & R Eccles, Chorley achieved £2080 with ‘Liscabanc Kipling Jen Molly’ selling at £2050.
In-calf heifers sold to £1580 for ‘Tunstall Conan Rosemary’ due to a Lim from JH Towers & Son, Tunstall. A consignment of heifer calves from the ‘Denhamhill’ herd of EH & R Eccles, Chorley sold to £420.
