Prime Lambs

Prime Lambs averaged 211.79p/kg today +8.79p/kg on the week and an SQQ average of 213.14p/kg.

Top price of the day was £115, three times, firstly for 56kg Texels consigned by AG Butler, Hambleton, secondly for a pair of 45kg Beltex lambs from P Kaye, Brindle and thirdly for a shapely 41kg Beltex consigned from T & L Kirkham, Eccleston. P Kaye also sold to £114 and £113 for Texels closely followed by a pair of 54kg Texels from J & R Waller, Killington and a pen of 42kg Texels from A & E Clarkson, Thurnham, realising £110, respectively.

Quality butchers type lambs sold to 280p/kg for a cracking 41kg Beltex consigned by T & L Kirkham followed by 266p/kg for three 35kg Texels from IT Richardson, Catforth.

Cast Sheep

Topping the cast sheep trade today was a pair of Texels realising £134 consigned by WM Pye, Tarnwater.

Breeding Sheep

Lancaster Auction held their second sale of breeding ewes, gimmer shearlings and breeding rams. There was a handful of rams forward, leading this section today was a Texel shearling from consigned by WM Pye, Ashton with Stodday.

Hitting the high spot in the gimmer shearling section was a run of 30 Mules consigned by JS & KM Wilson & Son, Scotforth which realised £150.
