Lancaster Livestock Auction: Dairy Cattle - Tuesday 21st January

There was an excellent catalogued entry for the monthly NWA Dairy Sale, which saw 50 heifers level at £1729.00 and 6 cows average £1763.33.

Trade today was very decent however lesser sorts were more difficult to place.

Top heifer at £2700 today came from regular vendors Messrs EH & R Eccles, Denhamhill who sold Denhamhill Sensation sired by Bidlea Sensation and out of the Shottle sired by Denhamhill Susan successful purchaser was Dyfig Davies, Carmarthen.

The second top was todays Overall Champion under judge Harry Roper, Thornley this was the much-fancied Ingleview Demps Dandy sired by Drew Dempsey and out of Ingleview Rockman Dandy, this heifer also found its new home at £2600 with Dyfig Davies.

A fantastic run from Stardale was led by Stardale Mayday Vanessa sired by ABS Mayday ET and out of Stardale Grafeeti Vanessa this heifer from Messrs J Burrow & Son was the choice of Wallbank Farms Ltd at £2450.
Messrs Drinkall Bros sold two heifers at £2400 and £2000. The first of these Pennine Crocus 279 sired by Larcrest Cancun and out of Pennine Crocus 225. Pennine Poppy 1475 sired by DE-SU Fedex ET and out of Pennine Poppy 1332 both of these heifers headed to Wales with Dyfig Davies.

James Burrow was back in the action at £2300 selling Stardale Apprentice Adeen sired by Endco Apprentice ET and out of Stardale Talent Adeen purchase of this one was Messrs M & R Harper.

Andrew Parkinson sold Liscabank Lotta Ruth ET sired by Oconners Lotta Class and out of Liscabank Million Ruth this was the choice of Small Thwaite Farms at £2200.

Taking the two top prices in the cows was Messrs Lawsons Farm Ltd who sold a brace at £2380 and £2050 to Messrs Wannop Farms Ltd. First of these was the first prize cow Sweetings Fitz Trupi sired by TOC-Farm Firz ET and out of Sweetings Barrace Trudi.

The next was Sweetings Solemio Louise sired by Pirolo Solemio and out of Sweetins Uno Louise.

Averages 6: cows £1763.33 50: heifers £1729 and one bull £1550
