A reduced entry forward today met a very fast trade to return an overall average of £1813.80. Quality was, again, in great demand with buyers keen to secure well bred, but more importantly, high producing cattle.
Top price today was the Reserve Champion from Messrs R & E Butterfield who sold a fantastic daughter of Ravenscar Gold Wyn Ambrosia and sired by DEMAN taking this one home at £2500 was Mr A Bargh, Skelton.
Next in line was the first prize cow from the Inman Family, sired by Odile Mercure and from the Honey family at Witherslack. This second calver was the choice of Smallthwaite Farms at £2300.
Taking today’s Championship under Lancaster regular Simon Case, Ulverston was Pennine Roxy from the Drinkall Bros. Sired by the popular Cogent Supershot the Judge backed his judgement at £2150.
Messrs Lawson Farm Ltd sold Sweetings Octoberfest Malinda by Ladys-Manor Octoberfest at £2100 to Neil Evans, Shropshire.
Messrs Drinkall Bros were back in action selling Pennine Peace Sired by Go-Farm Zeber and from the famous Peace Family. Buying this time were Messrs Rudd & Son, Kirkbride at £1950. A further three sold at £1900 or more.
Neil Evans, Shropshire paid £1920 for Witherslack Arbour Missy sired by Pine Tree Arbour Red ET. At the same money, Messrs Rudd took home Lawsons Farm Ltd’s Sweeting Altasketch Malinda. Lawson Farm Ltd also sold another heifer at £1900.
