Great to see more prime lambs forward in Lancaster today, however many showing the effect of the recent bad weather.
Again well bred and well finished sheep of all breeds were extremely well sold.
Top price in both pence per kilo and pounds per head selling this week was Richard Prickett, Hutton Roof who sold Texel crosses 45.5kg to £100.00 (222p/kg) with 45kgs to £89.00 (197p/kg) and 42.5kgs to £84.50 (199p/kg). Andy Wilson, Scotforth sold Texels 39kg to 215p/kg £84.00. Messrs BR & S Carter, Pilling sold Beltex crosses to £90.00 (214p#/kg). Messrs J & R Waller, Killington sold Texel crosses weighing 45.5kg to £96.00 (210p/kg). William Pye sold Texel crosses 38kg to (213p/kg).
Some very well finished mule whethers sold very well from 175-184p per kilo. Messrs B & SE Carter, Ellel sold 45kgs to £83.00 (184p per kg).
Cull Sheep
More about also this week however mostly smaller and plainer sorts. Trade sharper and many more could have been well sold. Zwartble Tups from Elaine Curran sold to £101. Cheviot ewes from Messrs JM & MH France sold to £70.
