Prime Lambs

The weekly sale of Prime Lambs had a larger entry of 454 forward this week selling to a full ringside of buyers with an overall market average of 163p/kg achieved with an SQQ average of 168p/kg. The trade topped twice at £87 for Texel Lambs from TR Prickett, Hutton Roof and T & CM Kelsall & Sons, Chipping this was closely followed by Texels at £85 and £84 from PM & ST Entwistle, Abbeystead. It was great to have plenty of lambs selling in and around the eighty pound mark. Suffolk lambs topped at £79 from FK & F Woodhouse, Scorton. Texel lambs sold to a top of 186p/kg from JT & B Fox, Quernmore, with others selling to 184p/kg from TR Prickett. Better bred good conformation Texel lambs regularly sold around the 180p/kg mark.

Cast Sheep

There was noticeably sharper trade for cast ewes this week with Texel ewes selling to a top of £95 from JK & BE Townley, Brook House. Mules were sharper today regularly selling in the mid sixties topping at £71, again, from JK & BE Townley.
