Tuesday 20th March witnessed the first sale for the joint venture between Hassall Brothers and North West Auctions conducting dairy sales at Lancaster Auction Mart, a sale that both companies are incredibly excited about and look forward to building a very strong alliance over the forthcoming years.

The sale is open to any category of dairy stock, milking cows and heifers of any breed, youngstock, pedigree and commercial.

The March sale attracted an entry of 44 head which was pleasing for this first sale, the atmosphere at the auction was bubbling with excitement and certainly the quality of stock on offer was outstanding and all vendors must be congratulated on the super animals they entered. We really appreciate the support from everyone for making this sale so successful, achieving a top price of £3,000 and a further 5 animals achieving over £2,000.

The Show was judged by Will Glenn of Distinctive Holsteins, Cheshire, with the show kindly sponsored by Wynnstay, in Association with Elanco & Zoetis; Will had a really tough job as the animals put forward were tremendous and difficult to split.

The Champion animal was from the Inman Family of Strickland Hill Farming, Grange-Over-Sands this was the 1st prize cow, Witherslack Bookmark Roxy, this awesome cow bred from the well-respected Roxy family backed by 10 generations of VG or EX, calved on the 1st March, yielding 46kg daily, she was secured by Messrs S Robinson of County Down, Northern Ireland. The Inman family will be delighted that they sold their Champion cow commission free, as all champion animals will sell commission free every month!

Two other great heifers from this home sold for £2,000 to average £1,950 for all lots sold.
