Store Cattle

The weekly sale of store cattle saw a catalogue entry of 280. The trade saw well meated, short term cattle a good trade, plainer medium types of cattle slightly harder to place with young well grown cattle continuing to be good to sell.

The trade twice sold to a top of £1400, firstly from JA & LR Wilson of Millom with a Limousin bullock and then Angus bullocks from EW & CR Clegg and Sons of Stalmine. There was plenty of bullocks selling into the £1300 bracket. Heifers sold to £1180 from PF Lee of Over Wyresdale with a Charolais.

Breeding Sheep

The early breeding sheep sale saw a better trade then expected with a full clearance of breeding sheep. There was plenty of interest ringside but many cautious due to the lack of grass at the moment. A handful of tups on offer were well bid for selling to a top of £420 twice for Charollais x texel from S Blease of Carnforth, with aged Texel tups selling to £280 from E Hartley of Wennington.
