J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction: J36 Sale of Pedigree Beef Cattle and Pedigree Sheep, Thursday 26th May 2022

North West Auctions were delighted to host the first pedigree beef sale, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the vendors and purchasers for supporting this new venture. British Blue bulls started the day with Solway View Pocker consigned by Kevin Watret achieving today’s top price of 4500gns this much admired bull was sired by Solway View Jackpot. Other bulls from the Solway View pen sold to 4200gns for Solway View Piston. Finishing the British Blue section was a lovely sweet heifer from AJ Geary, after much interest Littlewood Radisson finally sold to 2800gns. A lovely yard of Limousin bulls were forward A Myerscough led the way with Tallyrock Rocko who sold to 3800gns. The next Limousin bull sold to 3000gns for Intack Sabotage from EJ Ward & Son. Much interest was attracted for Limousin females, W Holden sold a lovely outfit Boldventure Jade with Boldventure Tonya at foot which achieved 3800gns. Maiden heifers sold to a top of 1800gns for Wanthwaite Ridley and 1750gns for Wanthwaite Redhot both consigned by T W Bell. It was good to see much interest the run of South Devons from DL Irving with his best in-calf heifer Enterprise Avyanna selling to 3000gns. Others from this herd selling to 2200gns for Enterprise Avora with her bull calf.

Pedigree Sheep
North West auctions were proud to host the inaugural spring pedigree sheep sale.
The sale commenced with the Texel’s that saw the trade peak at 1200gns for a gimmer hogg from PK&R Woof of the Stainton flock. This much-admired gimmer hogg was sired by Craig Douglas Dancer and mother was sired by Anglezarke Uno with the mother’s line going back to the flocks renowned Stainton 500 ewe. Pedigree Texel’s with lambs at foot peaked at 550gns from Sam Barlow of the Littlewood flock, the mother sired by Kelso Picasso and her ram lamb sired by Midlock Yorkie. Others from this same home sold to 500gns.
The consignment of Suffolk’s from TA Blair of the Thornfleet flock sold a stylish gimmer hogg to 700gns sired by the Burnview Hurricane with a gimmer lamb from the same home also achieving 700gns this time sired by Forkins Shalaa.
The run of Beltex sheep was consigned by M Prince of the Stonedge flock and created plenty of interest. Leading the way at 700gns was Stonedge Grignolino this much-admired gimmer hogg whose mother was a Belgian import created much interest. Gimmer hogg Stonedge Gentiana sold for 600gns following on from its successful opening show season. A Beltex tup lamb Stonedge Have A Go Hero was sold with its recipient mother sired by Buckles Dark Dawn sold to 700gns.
The run of Dutch Spotted Texels created a large amount of interest and were eagerly bid for. Leading the way and topping the sale was gimmer shearling Eden Dusty Treasure with her pedigree gimmer lamb whom was sired by Johnstown Evo selling to 1900gns consigned by Alan Smyth. Rounding off a good day for Alan saw Eden Valley Fizz a stylish gimmer lamb sired by Diamond Eminem sell to 1200gns. Pedigree gimmer lamb from Megan Rawlandson of the Damson flock sold to 1100gns.
In the Blue Texel section D Gray of the Ettrick flock sold gimmer hogg Ettrick Ferny to 800gns this fashionable hogg was sired by Lyles Eagle, other Blue Texel gimmer hoggs sold to 600gns from C Cochran & I Almond of the Towerview flock with their gimmer hogg Towerview Firenze which was sired by Caryl’s Blue Captain.
Pedigree Herdwick three crop ewes consigned by IK&AM Grisedale with triplet lambs at foot which were sired by the S Richardson tup led the way in this section selling to 280gns.
The Blue Faced Leicester trade was topped by J Wight & Sons of the Midlock flock selling their gimmer hogg to 800gns sired by the flock’s new stock ram Marriforth N024.
