The fortnightly sale of store lambs saw 4850 lambs forward, with a wide range of short to long term keep lambs. Today saw our loyal store lamb ring side of buyers in attendance as well as a number of new faces. Short keen lambs continue to be a fast trade at Junction 36, Texel lambs sold to a top of £102 from RA Batty, Selside with others from the same good home selling to £96, with many of the best Continental bred lambs selling to the mid to late eighties. A larger show of Mule lambs were forward, with a thousand going through the ring today averaging £72.50. The best end regularly selling the £80 mark, with a top of £84.50 from RI Dixon, Lower Newton, with others selling to £84 from TLB&J Knowles, Selside. A larger entry of hill lambs were forward with Rough Fell lambs selling to a top of £75 for a full pen from A O’Neil, Firbank with Herdwicks selling to £74.50 from S Proctor, Selside, with other Herdwick lambs selling to £71 from E Postlethwaite, Tebay.
